The lawn is a very important element of every garden. Like any plant, grass also needs proper care and fertilization. One home trick will make the green carpet soft and thick by spring. You need to act already in September.

A well-kept lawn makes our entire garden instantly look much better. It’s worth knowing that you need to take care of the green turf already in September, before winter, so that the grass is thick, green, and healthy the following spring. When taking care of the lawn, it’s good to consider home remedies. This fertilizer can be made by ourselves, will cost next to nothing, and the effects will amaze us.

In the fall, you need to prepare the lawn for the winter period. Remember that the lawn still needs to be regularly mowed and any weeds that appear should be removed. Other maintenance treatments worth conducting from September to October are aeration and dethatching, which aerate the soil. This makes the grass more resilient. It is also important to use the right fertilizer. This homemade mix is a real hit.

The fertilizer is made from banana peels and eggshells, which are excellent sources of phosphorus, potassium, and other valuable nutrients and minerals. What needs to be done? Simply grind the shells of two or three eggs and dry the finely chopped peel of one banana. Then mix the two ingredients together and spread the resulting fertilizer over the entire lawn.

Ideally, the ground should be slightly damp on the day you spread the fertilizer - this way, the vitamins and minerals will be absorbed more quickly by the soil and thus quickly delivered to the grass roots. Therefore, it’s a good idea to check the weather forecast and apply the fertilizer just before the predicted rain. If we have an exceptionally dry fall, spread the mixture and then water the grass with a sprinkler.
