Kerry Kennedy, sister of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., sharply criticized her brother's decision to support Donald Trump, the Republican presidential candidate.
The statement on Sunday’s MSNBC program expressed deep disappointment and opposition to her brother's actions, emphasizing that they are contrary to the values their father, senator and U.S. Attorney General, Robert F. Kennedy, fought for throughout his life.
"I am outraged and disgusted," said Kerry, distancing herself from Robert Kennedy Jr.
The Kennedy family, associated with the Democratic Party for several generations, strongly distances itself from the support given to Trump.
Kerry Kennedy also expressed her strong support for Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, emphasizing the importance of the upcoming election for America and how Donald Trump is a significant threat to basic freedoms.
According to Kerry, her brother Robert's actions are in stark contrast to their father's legacy, as well as RFK Jr.'s life choices, especially regarding his environmental efforts, which seem to be diametrically opposed to the policies proposed by Trump.
Kennedy made a decision
A few days ago, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., an independent candidate for President of the USA, announced that he is suspending his campaign. Kennedy filed documents in Pennsylvania, indicating his withdrawal from the race for the White House. During a press conference, he announced that he would support Donald Trump for re-election.
"Three reasons led me to participate in this race, and it is those reasons that mainly convinced me to leave the Democratic Party, run as an independent candidate, and now to endorse President Trump," said Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
As Kennedy said during his speech, he made his decision because the Democratic Party, from which he originally came, "has become the party of war, censorship," and large corporations and "in trying to save democracy, they have dismantled it." He justified his support for Trump with the issues of "freedom of speech, the war in Ukraine, and the war against our children."
