According to the latest poll by Morning Consult for Bloomberg News, Kamala Harris leads Donald Trump in four out of seven key states crucial for the presidential election outcome in the USA. Kamala Harris is performing better than expected. This is a new beginning for the Democrats' election campaign.

According to the latest Bloomberg News/Morning Consult poll, Vice President Kamala Harris has an edge over Donald Trump in the race for the U.S. presidency. She leads 48% to 47%.

The poll was conducted online from July 24 to July 28, following Joe Biden's decision not to run. Compared to the early July poll, where Trump led Biden by 2 percentage points and was leading in five of the seven so-called swing states, this marks a significant shift in favour of the Democratic candidate. Harris has an 11-percentage point lead over Trump in Michigan and a 2-point lead in Nevada, Arizona, and Wisconsin. Trump leads her by 4 percentage points in Pennsylvania and by 2 percentage points in North Carolina. Both gained equal support in Georgia.

It’s clear that the Democrats' campaign is at a new beginning after Joe Biden stepped down, and Kamala Harris became the natural successor. If the Democrats skillfully utilize this and clearly draw the lines of division, it could motivate pro-Democratic voters.

According to the expert, it concerns voters who oppose Donald Trump's recent statements.

He urged 'dear Christians to vote for him so they wouldn't have to vote in any elections anymore.' Such statements are perceived as a threat to democracy. Kamala Harris is a counterbalance to such anti-democratic rhetoric and a contrast to Trump. This causes her to give hope to those Democrats who have lost hope.

A coalition involving pop culture stars, African Americans, Latinos, and the youth might re-form. Some of these voters, Joe Biden, lost. And some simply lost motivation. If the Democrats can maintain this positive trend by choosing the right vice-presidential candidate, executing a good convention, and winning the debate against Trump, they can win in November.

As he notes, it remains a considerable challenge because conservative Americans are not keen on seeing a woman in the presidential chair.

Conservatives live in a different informational bubble. For them, Kamala Harris is a weaker version of 'Sleepy Joe,' as Trump called Biden. They are reluctant to accept ethnic minorities, New York elites, Hollywood elites, and academia. They are not bothered by anti-democratic rhetoric and believe they are fighting the system. They call themselves Christians yet tolerate Trump's un-Christian antics. They believe their candidate is God’s chosen one, comments the American studies expert.

U.S. presidential election. harris to battle trump

The polarization in the U.S. campaign is very high, resulting in a clash of two cultures.

Kamala Harris is performing better than expected. She is on a steady upward trend. The nomination is practically in her pocket. After gaining the establishment's support, securing millions in campaign funds, and achieving better polls, it's hard to imagine another candidate being proposed.

In his opinion, Harris is capable of effectively battling Trump.

Democrats need to emphasize the contrast in values and the lines of division. One related to women's rights and the fact that she is a woman, with the important issue of abortion in the background. And the other revolves around the duel between a former prosecutor (Harris) and a convicted person (Trump). This division captures voters' imagination and greatly aids her.
