Kamala Harris takes the lead: New poll shows edge over Trump
According to the latest Bloomberg News/Morning Consult poll, Vice President Kamala Harris has an edge over Donald Trump in the race for the office of President of the United States. She leads 48% to 47%; in one state, her lead is as much as 11%.
According to the poll, Harris is winning against Trump in seven key states, and on the national level, she is ahead by 1 percentage point. This is a significant change compared to the Bloomberg/Morning Consult poll from early July, which showed that Trump had a 2 percentage point lead over Joe Biden. The incumbent president ultimately withdrew from the race for the White House, and Harris is likely to become the Democratic candidate.
The poll released on Tuesday showed that Kamala Harris obtained an 11-point lead over Trump in Michigan, a 2-point lead in Nevada, a 2-point lead in Arizona, and a 2-point lead in Wisconsin.
On the other hand, Donald Trump has a 4 percentage point lead in Pennsylvania and a 2 percentage point lead in North Carolina. In Georgia, both Harris and Trump garnered 47% support.
Particular attention is drawn to Harris's 11% lead in Michigan. In the 2020 presidential election, the Democrats' victory in that state was narrow - Joe Biden won against Donald Trump by just under 3 percentage points, while four years earlier, Trump triumphed in Michigan, narrowly defeating Hillary Clinton.
The poll involved 4,973 registered voters from July 24-28. The margin of error is 1 percentage point.
According to American media, the Bloomberg/Morning Consult poll signals that Kamala Harris's campaign has gained momentum.
Other polls published since Harris became the probable Democratic candidate have similarly shown a tight race between the Vice President and Trump in the competition for the office of President of the United States.
The presidential election in the U.S. will be held on November 5.
