Biden condemns Russia's Christmas strike on Ukrainian grid
U.S. President Joe Biden sharply criticized the Russian attack on Ukraine that occurred on Christmas Day. He described it as "outrageous" and announced the continuation of arms supplies to Kyiv.
U.S. President Joe Biden expressed outrage over what he called the "outrageous attack" by Russia on Ukraine that took place on Christmas Day.
"The purpose of this outrageous attack was to cut off the Ukrainian people’s access to heat and electricity during winter and to jeopardize the safety of its grid," the president stated in a release.
Biden also announced that he had instructed the U.S. Department of Defense to continue the enhanced supply of weapons to Ukraine.
Russian attack on energy infrastructure
Overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday, Russia launched a massive assault on Ukrainian energy facilities, using approximately 184 missiles and drones. The Ukrainian Air Force reported that the attack inflicted significant damage to the energy infrastructure, leading to power outages in several regions of Ukraine.
The Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed the attack, stating that it targeted Ukraine's energy infrastructure.
