Russian Telegram channels report that the Chkalovsky airport near Moscow was attacked overnight. Videos surfaced online showing Shchelkovo, a town next to the airport, where intensive activity of Russian anti-aircraft defence was recorded.

The base is approximately 30 kilometres to the northeast of Moscow. According to one of the channels, unidentified drones "were destroyed on the airbase premises."

The base had previously been targeted by Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles. A successful strike took place, among others, in September 2023.

Ukrainian attacks on Russian airbases

In recent days, Ukrainians have intensified attacks on Russian airbases. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed that a Russian military airport in Lipetsk was attacked. Russian aircraft such as Su-34, Su-35, and MiG-31 are stationed at this base.

The attack destroyed, among other things, warehouses with guided aerial bombs and several other objects on the airport premises. The results of the attack were later confirmed by satellite images showing the damage.
