Italian media reported a fire in the Apulia region on Wednesday evening. As a result, 1,200 tourists were evacuated from the vacation resort near San Felice Bay, near Vieste in southern Italy.

A large forest fire threatened the safety of tourists in the Italian resort. The fire department ordered a preventative evacuation because the fire spread due to strong winds.

Fire in the Italian resort

On Wednesday, July 24th, in the evening, tourists left the endangered area by car and, for those who did not have cars, by boat. All vacationers were temporarily placed in a gymnasium provided by the authorities of Vieste.

It is worth noting that the evacuated resort is just about 1.6 kilometres away from the site of the fire. The prosecutor's office in Foggia has launched an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.

During the summer season, which has brought record-high temperatures in recent weeks, other countries in the southern part of Europe are also struggling with fires. This includes Croatia, Spain, and Greece.

Apulia - a unique region of Italy

Apulia, which was hit by a fire last night, is a region often chosen by tourists from Poland. In addition to countless monuments and towns with labyrinthine streets where it is pleasant to get lost, beautiful beaches, such as the one in Polignano a Mare, and delicious local cuisine, this region of Italy has one more advantage.
