Storms in the Balkans are accompanied by heavy rainfall and strong winds. Significant damage has already been caused in Croatia, Serbia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The violent storm reached Montenegro early Tuesday morning, July 2, and immediately caused tragedy.

Tragedy in Montenegro

According to local media, tens, if not hundreds, of cars have been destroyed by downed trees. Additionally, parts of the country are without power, and many streets in Podgorica have been flooded. The country's authorities have appealed to drivers to stay at home.

Montenegro's Minister of Transportation and Maritime Economy, Filip Radulović, announced financial aid from the government for people whose property has been destroyed.

The port in the city of Bar has suffered enormous losses. The wind has destroyed several vessels, loading bridges, and cranes.

Fatalities during the storm

Unfortunately, two people died during the weather breakdown in Montenegro. One was crushed by a wind-felled crane they were working on, and the other died after being struck by lightning, according to the Montenegrin police.
