Slovenian Railways has launched a unique rail connection that allows you to visit three European countries in two hours. Sounds like an ideal plan. Could the new connection become a tourist hit?

Slovenian Railways has launched a special holiday connection. The route covers three picturesque countries—Italy, Slovenia, and Croatia—and takes just two hours. According to euronews.com, the new connection uses a railway line built over 150 years ago, dating back to the Austro-Hungarian era.

An exceptional route

Starting April 24, you can embark on a journey where one set of stunning landscapes gives way to another. Trains depart from the Italian port city of Trieste and take travellers from Italy to two other scenic countries. First, the route passes through Slovenia, where trains stop at four stations - Sežana, Divača, Pivka, and Ilirska Bistrica.

Further on, trains enter Croatia, stopping in places such as Šapjane and Opatija Matulji. The route ends in the city of Rijeka on the Adriatic Sea. This journey will be available until September 30.

Trains from the starting station in the Italian town depart at 1:50 AM ET; at 3:54 AM ET, they are already at the last station in Croatia. Meanwhile, on the way back, trains from Croatian Rijeka to Trieste depart at 12:25 PM ET.

Prices are surprising

The prices are surprisingly low, making this connection particularly appealing. Tickets start at just eight euros (around CAD 12) per person one way.

Tourists can buy a ticket for the entire journey, seeing three countries in just two hours, or only for specific segments of the route.
