Ellie Goulding: Overcoming heartbreak and loss in 2024
Ellie Goulding is just turning 38. The British singer and songwriter has had a challenging year. Her marriage ended, and she also had to sell her cherished home, losing millions in the process. However, she's ending 2024 positively, and fans are already getting excited.
At the beginning of 2024, a significant scandal emerged involving multi-award-winning singer Ellie Goulding. Paparazzi captured her sharing passionate kisses with surfing instructor Armando Perez in Costa Rica. Shortly afterwards, the star's husband, art dealer Caspar Jopling, was seen without his wedding ring.
Speculation about a marriage crisis and then about the end of their relationship four and a half years after the wedding became increasingly persistent. Eventually, the couple couldn't withstand the pressure and released a statement. In his February 2024 post, Jopling emphasized that they had already decided to part ways some time ago and that their family and friends were aware of it.
"Caspar and I have separated"
"I feel I have been left with no choice but to let you all know that Caspar and I privately separated some time ago. We remain the closest of friends and have been successfully co-parenting with our sons best interests at heart. We are committed to protecting our family privacy and thank people in advance for respecting our wishes - we won't be commenting further. Thank you," wrote Ellie Goulding on Instagram.
After separating from her husband, Goulding was officially linked with Perez, who is eight years her junior, but their relationship could not withstand the test of time. The surfing instructor from Costa Rica was accustomed to a quiet life, and the buzz surrounding the star overwhelmed him. Ultimately, they parted ways.
Ellie Goulding lost millions
An additional blow for Ellie Goulding in 2024 was that she had to sell her five-story London townhouse in the Mayfair area for a fraction of its value. The four-bedroom, five-story building was bought for approximately $3.8 million. The house was valued at $7.4 million when she decided to sell it, but Goulding had to lower the price, especially after separating from her husband. The buyer eventually paid $3.2 million, and the star lost a significant amount on it.
Nevertheless, the singer's unlucky year ends on a positive note. She has shared with fans that she's working on a new album. She decided to channel her experiences into new music, drawing inspiration from her life. The album is set to be released in 2025.
