HBO sets premiere for "The Last of Us" season two this April
HBO announced the return of The Last of Us. Millions of viewers eagerly await the second season of the story starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey. We finally learned when the first episodes will be available.
When HBO aired the first episode of "The Last of Us," a post-apocalyptic story based on the iconic game series, in January 2023, viewers worldwide were captivated. At the time, nothing was more watched than the series featuring Pedro Pascal as Joel, who is saving people, but most importantly, a teenage girl, Ellie (Bella Ramsey), might be the key to finding a cure for the horrific mutation that turns people into monsters. The first episode alone attracted 4.7 million viewers in the United States. In two months, the series was seen by 40 million viewers (the average number of viewers now cited after the entire season was released is 30 million). The production of a second season was a certainty. We finally know when we will see our favourites again on streaming and on the HBO channel.
"The Last of Us 2" - when is the premiere?
Neil Druckmann, the co-creator of the game and showrunner of The Last of Us, announced the series' second season, which will debut in April, during the CES conference in Las Vegas. The series, which has won eight Emmy awards, returns with new episodes adapting events from The Last of Us Part II.
The new season will feature Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, a key and controversial character. Viewers can expect thrilling scenes reflecting key moments from the game. Abby, in one of the previews, says: "It doesn't matter if you have a code like me. There are just some things everyone agrees are just wrong."
Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey return as Joel and Ellie. The action unfolds a few years after the first season's events, with the characters living in a commune in Jackson. After a traumatic event, Ellie sets out on a mission to deliver justice.
New characters join the cast, including Isabela Merced as Dina, Ellie's love interest, and Young Mazino as Jesse, Ellie's friend. Catherine O'Hara will play Joel's therapist, helping him face the trauma of the first season. Fans are most eagerly anticipating the scenes with these two, as epic moments between these award-winning actors are expected.
A new trailer published online in the early morning hours Eastern Time gives a glimpse of the new season. Bella Ramsey had her hands full on set, and it's clear that her character will not have it easy in the new episodes. The new season promises to be a powerful and intense spectacle. Even Pedro Pascal's tears won't be absent.
