Czechs raise $2.3M to gift Ukraine a Black Hawk helicopter
The Czechs organized an initiative called "A Gift for Putin" and raised over $2.3 million CAD for the purchase of a military Black Hawk helicopter. The helicopter will be sent to Ukraine to aid in the fight against the Russian military. This marks the first time that the public has bought military equipment to support the Ukrainians.
Vladimir Putin will likely not be pleased with the "gift" that the Czechs have for him. The Russian leader will receive a "big present" as part of the Czech volunteers' campaign. It is a modern military Black Hawk helicopter destined for Ukraine.
The purchase of the helicopter is the result of the remarkable success of the "A Gift for Putin" campaign. A total of $2.3 million CAD was collected in the fundraiser's account. The campaign, launched in November 2023, garnered support from more than 20,000 individuals.
The military UH-60 Black Hawk will be delivered to the Ukrainian armed forces this month. This will boost the offensive capabilities of the Ukrainian army in its battles against the Russian aggressor.
We did it! The Czechs are sending a Black Hawk helicopter to Ukraine. We managed to secure a cheaper, newer machine that Ukraine urgently needs. Let’s finish what we started together and send Chestmir to fight against the dark Empire - announced the organisers of the fundraiser, as quoted by the British "Metro".
The Czech public has thus become the first in the world to directly support the Ukrainian army. The helicopter for Ukraine was funded entirely by grassroots, voluntary donations.
The UH-60 Black Hawk will undoubtedly be a significant support for Ukraine on the front lines. The helicopter is recognized as one of the most durable and versatile machines globally. It is the primary assault vehicle of the United States Army.
