Ukraine's tense hours: Zelensky's appeal before invasion

Former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba revealed the final hours before the Russian invasion began. During the conference in Munich from February 18–20, 2022, Western leaders were said to have asked Volodymyr Zelensky to record a "video testament."

Ukrainian TV channel TSN released the film "USA-UA. Secret White House Files," which presented declassified documents and previously unknown details of negotiations between Ukrainian and American politicians. Author Olha Koshelenko examined American Top Secret documents.

moments before the war

In early October 2021, the United States reportedly learned that Russia was preparing for a full-scale war with Ukraine. At that time, Joe Biden was said to have informed Ukraine and other Western leaders. However, in Europe, it was anticipated that the greatest escalation of the conflict would occur in eastern Ukraine.

Kuleba recalled, "Americans talk every day that there will be a war in Ukraine. When asked for proof, they say, 'We can't; it's super secret.' You call Berlin and Paris, and they say: don't worry.' That means there will be no war with Russia. They promised everything would be fine," said Kuleba in the documentary "USA-UA. Secret White House Files."

John R. Bolton, former US National Security Advisor, stated that American intelligence provided briefings in closed House of Representatives and Senate sessions. He claimed the offices were informed that "Kyiv would fall in a matter of days, and the country would fall in a matter of weeks."

Kyiv had already requested the delivery of weapons and the imposition of preventive sanctions against Russia. Both requests were answered "no." "We have already seen Taliban fighters armed with U.S.-made weapons they seized from the Afghan forces. This poses a significant threat to the United States and our allies," said Kuleba, quoting one of the American officials.

During the Munich conference, US Vice President Kamala Harris advised Zelensky to prepare for the possible establishment of a government-in-exile and to begin looking for military solutions that would enable Ukraine to conduct guerrilla warfare. Journalist Simon Shuster reported this.

"A man, a great friend of Ukraine, sent me a message, and when I said I was going home, he said: "Zelensky should record a video testament,'" confessed Kuleba.

Outbreak of war

On the night of February 23, Zelensky and his family were at his home near Kyiv. His wife learned about the war's start when she heard the sounds of explosions nearby. At that moment, Zelensky reportedly said, "the worst has begun."

The Ukrainian president was said to have called Biden, pleading with him to do everything possible to prevent it. Zelensky also reportedly asked the US President to call Putin and tell him to stop what he was doing.
