Jazz, jeans, and propaganda: Kremlin's cultural targeting

In a Russian television program, one woman stated, "If you dance jazz today, tomorrow you will sell your country." This illustrates how Kremlin propaganda operates today. She also pointed out that the downfall of the USA was supposedly caused by jazz and tight jeans, highlighting that these aspects are "the path to LGBT."

Many of the pieces of information provided by Russian media and government representatives are likely not true. Such reports may be part of an information war by the Russian Federation.

In a Russian television program, a particular Russian woman delivered a controversial speech, claiming that the United States's downfall occurred due to jazz and tight jeans. In her view, these cultural elements constitute "the path to LGBT."

It is worth noting that there is strong intolerance towards non-heteronormative individuals in Russia, which is evident at various levels of society. On the other hand, the United States is a country where same-sex couples can legally marry.

"I absolutely agree that if you dance jazz today, which I think is hobo music, then tomorrow you will sell your country. That's a portion of the truth, much more than just a joke. The beginning of the downfall of this great country occurred because of these phenomena, because of jazz, because of stilagi, and so on. What are stilagi, what are tight jeans? This is, excuse me, the path to LGBT," the woman said, expressing her extreme views on Western culture.

It is worth adding that stilagi was the first youth subculture in the USSR, which appeared at the end of the 1940s and existed until the 1960s. It was apolitical but was characterized by an interest in Western culture, which led to harassment by the authorities in Russia.
