In response to Moscow deploying North Korean ground troops at the front, the administration of U.S. President Joe Biden approved the use of American weapons by Ukraine to strike targets deep inside Russia.
The newspaper suggests that the Rostov region might be the next target of Ukrainian attacks using Western missiles. The paper highlights that numerous new potential targets for Ukrainian missiles are located here, including air bases and military factories.
"A strike on the region could be devastating and scatter a key staging area for Russian troops" - writes "WSJ".
The acting head of the Rostov region, Yuri Shlusar, warned residents a few days ago of the direct threat posed by a Ukrainian attack with American ATACMS missiles.
The Institute for the Study of War identified around 200 military targets within range of the ATACMS and Storm Shadow systems. ISW analyst George Barros notes that this is only a fraction of the potential targets. According to him, Ukraine might use intelligence data to strike headquarters and other facilities that change locations.
