The presence of grubs and fungus gnats in the garden isn't a good sign. Although many pest control methods exist, one stands out as particularly effective.

Garden care requires a lot of work and attention and a quick response to the appearance of pests such as grubs and fungus gnats. How can you get rid of them? Try a safe and fully natural method that is gaining popularity.

How to get rid of grubs and fungus gnats?

Fungus gnats are flies from the family Sciaridae. Adults resemble small, black flies and live for only one week. During this time, the female can lay up to 100 eggs in the soil, from which tiny larvae hatch.

These larvae pose the greatest threat as they feed on the roots of plants, causing severe damage. Grubs, on the other hand, are the larvae of May beetles. They live in the soil and, like fungus gnats, damage the roots.

How can you get rid of grubs and fungus gnats? The most popular method is using professional chemical agents at any garden store. Although effective, they have one major drawback — they can also damage the crop.

Fortunately, there’s a method that eliminates the need for pesticides. It is entirely safe and ecological. Simply obtain a package of beneficial nematodes. They are typically sold in powder or concentrate form, but they prove highly effective regardless.

Sprinkle into the soil — grubs and fungus gnats will be just a memory

Before starting the treatment, water the soil to moisten it. Prepare the product containing microorganisms according to the manufacturer's instructions. Use the entire package immediately. It is recommended to apply it on a warm evening when the soil is still warm, and the sun's rays are less strong.

After pouring the product, the nematodes will penetrate the bodies of the fungus gnats and grubs through spiracles or openings in their bodies. Within 1-3 days, they will start producing symbiotic microorganisms that kill pests. In this simple and safe way, you will get rid of them.
