Starlings belong to the starling family, with as many as 120 species worldwide. Despite their small size, they are very greedy, feeding on insects and some fruits.

In the summer, they often visit gardens in search of food. They have many choices, as starlings love cherries, sweet cherries, plums, currants, apples, and pears. They can strip a tree of its ripe fruits in a short time. How can you get rid of starlings from your garden?

How to get rid of starlings?

Starlings are a real nuisance for orchardists, as they feed on sweet cherries, strawberries, plums, currants, apples, and other fruits. They have such a big appetite that they can strip both shrubs and trees of their leaves and fruits in a short time. If you notice them in your garden, you must act immediately.

However, remember that these birds are protected. You cannot harm or kill them. How can you get rid of starlings in a humane way? There are many effective methods to combat starlings.

Noise is one of the simplest and most effective methods. Loud sounds repeated from time to time effectively scare away the birds. Starlings will associate your garden with a place full of danger and stress. To this end, you can use a noise cannon, CDs, aluminum cans, or sound deterrents.

Do you have a water gun at home? If you or your child feels like having fun, chase the birds by "shooting" water at them. You don't need to worry about hurting them, as the pressure is so low that the water will just "brush" the starlings.

If this method doesn't appeal to you, invest in a scarecrow. Although it's mainly associated with fields full of grain, you can place it in the garden. Place it as close to the fruit tree as possible, and the starlings won't dare to approach it.
