Cucumber peels: Unexpected ally in cleaning and pest control

Not everyone likes the taste of cucumbers with the skin, so some often peel them before eating. The part we remove usually ends up in the compost bin. It turns out that it can still be used in many ways.

We usually get rid of cucumber peels, not thinking that they might still be helpful. Cucumber peels have many uses, most of which we had no idea about. Luckily, we are here to help.

Cucumber peels perfect for cleaning

Everyone struggles with stubborn stains on faucets or countertops. Sometimes, stains, dirt, or limescale refuse to be wiped away. It's worth reaching for old, proven solutions that our mothers and grandmothers used years ago.

We need only cucumber peels and 22 grams of baking soda for this. Both ingredients should be mixed thoroughly until a homogeneous mass is obtained. Then, using a microfiber cloth, clean the dirty areas. Finally, rinse everything off with water, and you're done.

Cucumber against pests

Cucumbers can be helpful in the fight against garden pests. Not everyone knows that they contain cucurbitacin, a deterrent. Ants dislike this substance, so they should quickly leave our property when they sense it.

All we need to do is slice the cucumber and place the slices in the garden. To enhance the effect, it's worth putting them on an aluminum tray. However, this activity should be repeated several times weekly to ensure that unwanted guests do not come near the garden plants.
