The son of the renowned, almost legendary president and an icon to many women. They made a picture-perfect couple. Only years later, the truth about their relationship was revealed. He was no prince, and she was no Cinderella. A new series will cover this topic.

TV series fans can rejoice as another production based on a true story is on the horizon. Many people will surely recognize the anthology "American Story" initiated by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk. Under this banner, series like "American Horror Story" were created. The anthology's creators are expanding their series universe with "American Love Story." They will tell the story of the relationship and tragic death of John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette.

The love story of John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette

Executive producer Nina Jacobson stated, "We’re very much intending to [tell that story]," Jacobson said when asked about American Love Story’s status" and "Pose," added, "We have great scripts on that. We’re trying to figure out when it’ll land," Simpson explained. "It is a story that really resonates right now. It’s amazing. A lot of younger women are looking to her as sort of a representational icon of a certain period of time that’s really fascinating, and hopefully, we’ll be able to bring that to the screen soon."

John F. Kennedy Jr. was the son of President John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. He became a public figure, among other things, thanks to his magazine, George. Carolyn Bessette was a regular in American social circles, working for various glossy magazines and fashion brands.

They met in the early 90s at a Calvin Klein event, where she helped him pick out a suit. Over time, their acquaintance turned into a romance, and in 1996, they married in a private ceremony. Unfortunately, in 1999, they both died in a plane crash along with Carolyn's sister, Lauren Bessette. Experts concluded that the pilot lost control of the aircraft during a nighttime flight over the ocean. The search for the wreckage and passengers lasted five days. The autopsy revealed that all died instantly in the accident, not from drowning.

After the couple's death, many books and reports exposing the truth about their lives were published. America's favourites had their secrets. "He was no prince, she was no Cinderella," wrote Charles Gandee in "Vanity Fair." Meanwhile, books about the so-called Kennedy curse noted that Carolyn took drugs and had at least one lover. She also held a lot of resentment towards her husband, claiming he neglected her. "Once when John returned in the evening to their loft, he found Carolyn sprawled on the floor in front of a sofa, disheveled and hollow-eyed, snorting (...) with a gaggle of fashionistas," wrote Edward Klein in "The Kennedy Curse."

Let's add that the "Kennedy curse" is a colloquial term invented by the media for the tragic events in this famous family. Over 17 situations have been counted, including plane crashes, murders, car accidents, overdoses, and suicides among the clan members.

It's still unknown when we can expect the premiere of "American Love Story" about the marriage of John F. Kennedy Jr. The creators are now focusing on the series "American Sports Story," which premiered on Hulu on September 17 at 8:00 PM ET. The first two episodes are already available for streaming, and new episodes are released weekly.
