On Monday, while playing with relatives, the boy was knocked to the ground by the aggressive animal, which bit into his arm, leaving deep wounds.
The Sun reports that the incident happened when the dog's owners accidentally threw a stick towards Abdul while playing with their pet. As a result, the dog lunged at the boy and pinned him to the ground, attacking his hands and arms.
Eventually, a woman, likely the dog's owner, pulled the dog away from Abdul, preventing further injuries.
Currently, Abdul is in hospital undergoing treatment. His father, Nadeem Akhtar, says his son is upset about the event. Abdul often cries and avoids leaving the house, which understandably causes concern for his father.
The Greater Manchester Police are investigating and endeavouring to locate the dog and its owners. A spokesperson assures that officers spoke with Abdul at the hospital the same day, and the case is being treated as a priority.
Attack in the park: "There was blood everywhere"
The father of the attacked boy said that at the time of the attack, "there was blood everywhere."
It was awful, my son was shaking with fear because he had to fight with the dog. He had an operation on Wednesday, he's still in the hospital - he emphasised.
He also noted that he is worried about the safety of other children who visit the park.
A lot of kids play in that park, so I'm worried it could happen again. I don't want other people's kids to be shaking and crying after being attacked - he concluded.
