Crispy homemade waffles: Delight at your kitchen table
Crispy waffles are one of the most popular desserts in street food, especially by the sea, where booths with these sweet treats have become a staple in the landscape. Although recreating crispy waffles on the outside and soft on the inside may seem particularly difficult, with the right recipe, it is quite possible.

With powdered sugar, chocolate, and whipped cream, there are plenty of options, and various booths compete not only in ideas for toppings but also in prices. An alternative to overpaying in the city is making waffles yourself at home. Not only is this much cheaper, but you also don’t have to wait for vacation to enjoy a delicious waffle.
Crispy waffles like by the sea
Many waffle booths use ready-made mixes, which sometimes have frightening ingredients. In homemade waffles, you won’t find anything unusual, just flour, sugar, milk, baking powder, and eggs. However, the right proportions will make the waffles simply perfect.
The waffle iron must be really well preheated. The higher its power, the crispier the waffles will be. After baking, it's worth placing them vertically on an oven rack. This ensures proper air circulation and the waffles don’t become too soft.
Ingredients:
- 300 grams of all-purpose flour,
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder,
- 3 tablespoons of sugar,
- 1 packet of vanilla sugar,
- 500 millilitres of milk,
- 2 eggs.
Additional ingredients:
- 200 millilitres of cold milk,
- 1 packet of whipped cream powder,
- Favourite fruits, e.g., raspberries, blueberries.
Preparation:
Step 1. In a bowl, pour in the all-purpose flour, add sugar, vanilla sugar, baking powder, and mix. Crack the eggs, add the milk, and mix the whole thing until it becomes a smooth batter without lumps.
Step 2. Using a ladle, pour portions of the batter into a well-heated waffle iron. Bake until they turn golden brown. The baking time depends on the power of the device you are using.
Step 3. In the meantime, prepare the toppings. Pour the whipped cream powder into a bowl and mix with the cold milk. Wash and dry the fruits. Waffles with whipped cream and fruits are a favourite combination, but you can also go for other toppings like jam, powdered sugar, or chocolate.
Step 4. Serve the baked waffles with whipped cream and fruits. Enjoy!
