Zelensky congratulates Trump, highlights U.S. support for Ukraine

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, congratulated Donald Trump on his nomination by the Republican Party as the presidential candidate and wished him "strength and absolute safety in the future."
"I noted the vital bipartisan and bicameral American support for protecting our nation's freedom and independence," reads a post by the President of Ukraine.
Zelensky also stressed that "Ukraine will always be grateful to the United States for its help in strengthening our ability to resist Russian terror." He also announced a "personal meeting" where "steps that can make peace fair and truly lasting" will be discussed.

Meanwhile, Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social, that he had a "very good phone call" with Zelensky. He confirmed that Zelensky congratulated him and condemned the assassination attempt.
"I appreciate President Zelenskyy for reaching out because I, as your next President of the United States, will bring peace to the world and end the war that has cost so many lives and devastated countless innocent families," reads a post by Trump.
"Both sides will be able to come together and negotiate a deal that ends the violence and paves a path forward to prosperity," added the former president.
