Climate and environmental activists are taking increasingly bold steps to draw attention to the issue of Earth pollution and global warming. In France, protesters defecated into the Seine to provoke a government response regarding the pollution of France's most important river. Activists from Just Stop Oil regularly use orange paint to mark tourist objects. They all share a single goal: the fight for a future without trash and global warming.
British activists entered Rishi Sunak's property
The unusual incident took place on June 25, 2024. Representatives of Youth Demand entered the property of the British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak in Kirkby Sigston, North Yorkshire. Four men wore shirts with the phrase "Eat sh*t Sunak." The activists made their way to a pond on Sunak's property to pretend to defecate in the water. Local police apprehended the men.
One of the detained activists is 21-year-old student Oliver Clegg, who, standing in the water, voiced a series of opinions concerning, among other issues, the genocide in the Gaza Strip. The action was intended as a “farewell gift” for Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. However, the activists will now face charges of aggravated trespass.
Police comment on the arrest
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police commented on the arrest of the activists in an interview with “The Sun”: “We arrested four individuals on the property of the Prime Minister's constituency home this afternoon. Our officers were with the four men within one minute of their entering the property. They were arrested around 8:40 AM Eastern Time, after which they were escorted off the property and detained on charges of aggravated trespass. The men, aged 52 from London, 43 from Bolton, 21 from Manchester, and 20 from Chichester, remain in police custody for questioning and further investigations are ongoing.”
