Small details that seem insignificant at first glance can often have great importance. We often don't realize this. This principle is particularly evident in fashion—whether it's underwear, clothing, or accessories. Both appearance and functionality matter here.
For example, few people know that the small bow at the front of panties used to help women identify the front of their underwear. This was especially helpful in the days before electricity when people had to dress in the dark. Nowadays, the bows are purely decorative.
What about the loops found on sports shoes, ankle boots, or hiking boots? They aren't sewn onto the back of the footwear just for potential aesthetic appeal. They have at least a few practical applications.
What is the loop on the shoe for?
Who would have thought that such an insignificant element as the small loop at the back of the shoe could be so useful? First, it helps put on the shoes more efficiently – when you want to put on the shoe, you need to pull on it to slide your foot in completely without much trouble.
Secondly, if the shoes are too large or you don't feel stable and comfortable, you can thread the laces through the loops. This way, your feet will be well-secured and won't "pop out" of the shoes.
Additionally, the loops facilitate carrying the shoes, especially when dirty. Muddy or dirty shoes can be easily grabbed even with one finger. The loops are also helpful after washing our sneakers or hiking boots. They can quickly grab shoes taken out of the washing machine or hand-washed. This spot is also ideal for hanging the shoes on a dryer. It's best to use a peg or a plastic clip so the shoes can dry adequately.
