For several days now, there have been clashes between Russian forces and Ukrainian units that have entered the Kursk region in Russia. Now the media are reporting strong explosions and fires.

Social media reports strong explosions and a fire in the Rylsk region, part of the Russian Federation's Kursk region. The fire is said to have started in the village of Stepanovka.

It is not clear what caused the fire. Some sources state that a Russian military convoy caught fire. There are also reports of a fire in the village of Oktyabrskoye in the Kursk region. "If true, this is pretty far from Sudzha," comments Euromaidan Press. This is where the last gas pumping station before the border is located, pumping Russian gas to Europe.

Ukrainian attack on Russian territory

During one of the most significant attacks on Russian territory since the beginning of the war, about 1,000 Ukrainian soldiers crossed the Russian border into the Kursk region on Tuesday morning with tanks and armoured vehicles under the cover of drones and artillery at 4:00 AM EST - reported Reuters, citing Russian officials.

Ukrainian forces moved through the border fields and forests north to Sudzha, where the last gas pumping station before the border is located, pumping Russian gas to Europe.
