"It's falling, it's falling!" shouted the security guards at the refinery of the Russian Federal Reserve Agency (Rosrezerv) "Zenit," trying to bring down a Ukrainian drone. This marks the first attack on the Kirov region in Russia, approximately 930 miles away from the Ukrainian border. "Now there will be chaos," can be heard in another recording.

This is the first drone attack on the Kirov region since the beginning of the war, which is located about 930 miles from the Ukrainian border. According to reports, two fuel tanks belonging to Rosrezerv in the city of Kotelnich are on fire.

The TASS agency reports that five drones fell on the refinery.

On the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, Ukrainian drones attacked fuel depots in the Rostov region. According to Ukrainian media, citing intelligence sources, the attacks were carried out by Ukrainian military intelligence HUR and the Special Operations Forces (SSO).

"(...) The affected facility is part of the Russian military-industrial complex and is directly involved in providing enemy troops. The exact results of the operation are still being clarified," said a representative from HUR to the Interfax-Ukraine agency.

Interfax-Ukraine wrote that the state enterprise Kombinat Atlas belongs to the Russian Federal Agency of State Reserves in the Southern Federal District and specializes in supplying petroleum products to the Russian armed forces.

In August 2020, Kombinat Atlas hosted joint exercises of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation and the Federal Agency of State Reserves as part of the Caucasus-2020 manoeuvres. At that time, they practised delivering fuel for the army using road, rail, and pipeline transport – recalled the Ukrainian agency.
