The man became a living shield—he dropped everything to protect his family. His daughter, Allyson Comperatore, wrote on Facebook: "Yesterday, time stopped. And when it started again, my family and I began to live in a real nightmare. What was supposed to be an exciting day that we all looked forward to (especially my dad) turned into the most traumatic experience imaginable. I know the media will cover this event. And I will try not to follow everything, especially since I have already seen and experienced it live. But I want everyone to know what the media will not show and will not say about him."

They won’t say that he shielded my body from the bullet that was coming our way," wrote the girl in an emotional farewell.

Allyson concluded her post with a message directly to her father: "Dad, I love you so much that words fail to express how deep this love is. I know you will cause quite a stir in heaven. I know that God is proud of the man who came to His gates yesterday."
