Ilya Seredyuk, acting as the region's governor, reported that the condition of three people injured in this event is severe. - Two of them are in intensive care, one is on the operating table. Doctors are fighting for their lives - he added.
According to TASS, 90 people were injured, 78 of whom were hospitalized. Later, it was found that one of the victims had died.

Unofficial reports on social media suggest that the cause of the accident could have been a brake failure in one of the trams. This tram, moving at high speed, collided with the other tram. Footage from a surveillance camera posted on platform X shows the speeding tram and a person who falls out of the vehicle under the wheels of the cars.
The city tram company stated to the media in which it denied that the tram involved in the accident was faulty. This information was provided by the local portal VSE42.
