Teenager fatally struck by bus after phone theft in São Paulo
On Friday, July 19, in the western part of São Paulo, Brazil, a tragic incident occurred. A 17-year-old boy, right after he stole a phone from an older man, was fatally hit by a bus. The accident happened as the teenager fled just seconds after the theft. He was transported to the hospital, but unfortunately, he could not be saved.

The incident occurred on Friday, July 19, in the western part of São Paulo, Brazil. The 17-year-old stole a cell phone from a 71-year-old man, and while fleeing, he ran under a moving bus. Despite immediate assistance and being taken to the hospital, he died from extensive injuries.
An online video shows an elderly man walking on the sidewalk and talking on the phone. At some point, a young man runs up to him and snatches the phone from his hand. He then starts to dash and, due to his carelessness, runs directly under a moving city bus.
The speeding vehicle hits him with significant force, and then the 17-year-old is dragged under the chassis. The whole incident lasted just a few seconds.
The Public Security Secretariat informed the Brazilian news service Correio in a statement that the police were called in response to the incident of the hit-and-run and theft on Domingos Rodrigues Street.
