According to the BBC, people experiencing homelessness are being transported from Edinburgh to other cities. The reason is the Taylor Swift concerts, as there are no available hotel rooms since the star's fans have reserved them.

Taylor Swift is on her international concert tour, "The Eras Tour." The singer will perform three times in Edinburgh at the beginning of June. According to the BBC, people experiencing homelessness are being transported from the capital of Scotland to other cities. The charity organization Shelter Scotland publicized the whole matter.

Under Scottish law, individuals recognized as homeless should be provided with temporary accommodation for a maximum of seven days. The city authorities are responsible for this. Information provided to the British broadcaster indicates that at least a few Shelter Scotland clients travelled by taxi to other cities, including Aberdeen, Glasgow, or Newcastle, about 160 kilometres from Edinburgh.

The situation mentioned is caused by the American singer's upcoming concerts. Hotels in the capital of Scotland are overcrowded because Swift's fans have already reserved rooms for the concerts and beyond. Charity representatives consider this a "blatant injustice."

Our frontline services are already seeing people in need of a bed tonight being told their only option is to leave the city, commented Shelter Scotland director Alison Watson.

Nevertheless, city authorities stated that they are working with people experiencing homelessness and trying to organize "appropriate, alternative accommodation" for them. The incident was ensured to be not related to deliberately providing lodging for Taylor's fans, as the BBC established that there is no evidence of evicting homeless people from temporary accommodations.
