Sven-Goran Eriksson, the former coach of the English national team and several top European football clubs, has passed away. The coach had been suffering from pancreatic cancer and had been preparing for his death for a long time. A few days ago, he bid farewell to people with a touching speech.

The news of the legendary football coach's death was conveyed by British "Sky Sports." The coach's family confirmed this unfortunate news. On August 23, 2024, a documentary about the Swede's life and career appeared on the Amazon Prime platform. At the end, he said goodbye to people with a very moving speech.

I hope you remember me as a positive guy who tried to do everything he could. Don't apologize, smile. Thank you for everything—coaches, players, fans, it was wonderful. Take care of yourselves and your life. And live it. Goodbye - said Sven-Goran Eriksson in his final message.

During his career, the Swede managed clubs such as Manchester City, SL Benfica, AS Roma, and SS Lazio. From 2001 to 2006, he was the head coach of the English national team.

During his coaching career, Sven-Goran Eriksson won the UEFA Cup as coach of IFK Göteborg and repeatedly won championships in Italy, Portugal, and Sweden. He could boast of advancing to the final of the European Cup (now the Champions League) and the World Cup quarterfinals and the European Championship. He retired in 2023 due to health reasons.

As a player, he played as a right-back but did not have a spectacular career. He played only in Swedish leagues, mainly at the second and third league levels. His last club was Västra Frölunda IF, from which he left in 1975.
