The heating season started several weeks ago. However, due to heating costs, not everyone is taking advantage of this option yet. If you've already noticed increasing moisture in your home, it's time to act. To get rid of it, just learn a few clever tricks. One of them eliminates moisture in literally a minute.
How to get rid of moisture from the window?
Hugh, known as "Hugh Essentials," shared the trick for removing moisture from around the window on his TikTok profile. He showed how to eliminate it in 55 seconds using silica gel. All it takes is placing a container with the gel right by the window seal and waiting a minute.
"This gel changes the game. It protects against mould and moisture," he stated.
Moreover, such containers are reusable. Once filled, you just need to put them in the microwave for about six minutes to—as Hugh described—"completely reset" them.
Ways to get rid of moisture
Silica gel is not the only way to remove moisture—and not just from around the window. Here are some other methods:
- Place a bowl of salt or silica-based cat litter in areas prone to moisture, as they absorb it excellently;
- Create a homemade air dryer using a plastic container with a lid. Simply make holes in the lid, fill the container with silica gel or charcoal, and place it in humid areas;
- Regularly wipe windows and other damp surfaces with a dry cloth;
- Open windows or use exhaust fans during cooking and bathing;
- Keep the lid on pots and pans while cooking to reduce the amount of steam released;
- Uncover curtains and blinds during the day to let sunlight warm the windows and reduce condensation.
