Shannen Doherty was well aware that death could come at any moment. The actress, known for the series "Beverly Hills, 90210," tried to make the best use of the time she had left. Until the end, she spent time with friends, kept in touch with fans, and fought for her life. However, she was not destined to taste the joys of motherhood. Some time ago, she revealed that she did not exclude any possibility that might allow her to fulfill this dream.
Shannen Doherty on motherhood
In 2015, Shannen Doherty found out she had breast cancer. The actress immediately began treatment, which brought the expected results. Two years later, the star announced that the disease was in remission. However, the peace did not last long. In 2019, the cancer returned with twice the force. On July 13, 2024, the star passed away at 53.
Before Doherty fell ill, she dreamed of becoming a mother. On her podcast "Let's Be Clear with Shannen Doherty," she revealed that she had long tried to get pregnant.
- "Not only did I want a child for myself, but I wanted it for my husband. I wanted it for our marriage. I wanted him to have that part of himself fulfilled as well" - the celebrity revealed at that time.
The star admitted that since she decided to have a child only after the age of 40, she opted for the in vitro procedure. Unfortunately, it did not produce the expected result. Doherty also admitted that although she did not have children, she was fully engaged in raising the little ones in her close circle.
- "I'm biding my time, and in the meantime, I've got my best friend's kids, and my brother [Sean]'s seven kids. They're all grown up, but that's OK" - she said.
Shannen Doherty wanted to adopt a child before death?
The actress was famous for her tremendous will to fight her illness and private and professional life. That is why, even though she couldn’t fulfill the dream of having her biological child, she considered other possibilities.
"I think I would love nothing more than to be a mom. I always wanted it (...) I look at kids who don't have parents at all, and I think if I adopt a child or whatever it is, any amount of time is better than nothing. Maybe. I don't know".
