Satellite images confirm that as a result of Saturday's attack by Ukrainian forces on the airport in Russian Morozovsk, a Su-34 combat aircraft and aviation ammunition depots were destroyed entirely, the Ukrainian military intelligence, HUR, reported on Monday.

"Data from space reconnaissance shows that on August 3, 2024, as a result of a fire strike, a Su-34 fighter-bomber was destroyed at the military airfield (…) Morozovsk in the Rostov region," HUR stated on Telegram.

Two similar aircraft at the same airfield were likely damaged by shrapnel, as evidenced by the craters near them. The aviation ammunition depot was completely destroyed, as indicated by the fire traces on the airfield, and four technical buildings and two hangars were also destroyed - as explained in the statement.

Ukrainian intelligence did not reveal what weapon was used in the Morozovsk attack. They emphasized that this Russian airbase is located approximately 265 kilometres from the front line.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported the attack on Morozovsk in the Rostov region on Saturday morning. In the statement issued at that time, they announced the hit of three ammunition warehouses, which stored, among others, guided aerial bombs. The staff also reported that oil and fuel depots in the Russian regions of Belgorod, Kursk, and Rostov were attacked.
