The Russian Ministry of Defense reports that Russia scrambled its fighter jets to prevent a breach of the state border by U.S. bombers. Reuters cited the ministry's statement on Sunday.

Many pieces of information provided by Russian state media or Kremlin officials are likely not true. Such reports could be an element of information warfare by the Russian Federation.

Russia sent its MiG-29 and MiG-31 fighter jets to the border along the Barents Sea. According to information provided by the Russian Ministry of Defense, these aircraft's main task was to prevent the American strategic bombers B-52 from potentially crossing the state border.

"American bombers adjusted their flight course"

The Barents Sea is in the northwestern part of Russia, to the north of Finland, Sweden, and Norway.

A statement issued by the Russian Ministry of Defense notes that as the Russian fighters approached, the American bombers adjusted their flight course. Subsequently, according to the ministry, they turned back from the state border of the Russian Federation.
