The world champion kickboxer, Roman Holovatiuk, has passed away. The outstanding athlete tragically died while serving on the front lines in Ukraine. The Kamianets-Podilskyi City Council reported the athlete's death. The touching post triggered a wave of sadness not only in the local community but throughout the country. Roman Holovatiuk was just 28 years old.

Roman Holovatiuk gained international fame due to his kickboxing achievements. In 2017, he won a silver medal at the prestigious World Games in Wroclaw, and in the following years, he claimed the world, European, and Ukrainian championships. His talent and determination earned him recognition among his compatriots and globally.

He was also known for his deep sense of patriotism. When the conflict in Ukraine intensified, he decided to give up his brilliant sports career to defend his homeland.

The decision to volunteer for the army was proof of his dedication and willingness to sacrifice for his country. Unfortunately, the 28-year-old had to pay the highest price for it.

He made a significant contribution to the development of Ukrainian sport. His loss is a great tragedy for the entire country. Roman Hołowatiuk will remain in Ukraine's history and in our memory forever. Rest in peace, our hero and champion - the Kamianets-Podilskyi City Council in the Khmelnytskyi region reported on social media.

The Ukrainian Sports Committee also emphasized in its farewell post that the "country has lost a high-class athlete, a patriot." The touching post also mentioned Roman Holovatiuk's remarkable achievements.

He would have soon celebrated his 29th birthday

Roman Holovatiuk had many years of life and career ahead of him. In September, he would have celebrated his 29th birthday, but fate decided otherwise.
