Trick for cutting and storing butter

On the Instagram profile of Urszula Hryniewicka, a home organization expert (known online as @lux.ula), an interesting idea appeared for portioning and storing butter. With this trick, it will be easier for you to control its amount, and by taking only as much as you need, you'll avoid wasting the product. How to do it?

Prepare parchment paper and divide it into eight or even ten small sections. Then, place the paper on the sharp side of a knife and pierce through the block of butter one by one. This way, you'll get evenly sized pieces, separated by parchment. When you're finished, transfer the smaller portions of the block to an airtight container and store them in the refrigerator.

You'll never do it any other way

If you need a small amount of butter, for example, for a sandwich, just take one ready portion. Because its volume is small, it will be ready for spreading in a few minutes. Small pieces melt much faster than a whole block.

Additionally, butter divided into equal portions makes meal preparation easier. For example, dividing a stick (200 grams) into eight or ten equal parts gives you pieces of about 25 or 20 grams. This allows for more precise control over the amount of fat being used, which is especially important in dieting.

Divided this way, the product can also be frozen. When you need some butter, for instance for baking, you can take out only as much as you need, so nothing goes to waste. This saves time and money!

You’ll forget about measuring butter when kneading dough or preparing other dishes. Just take out one or two portions according to the recipe requirements and add them to the mix, without fussing and getting your hands dirty.
