Reinventing cheesecake: The rise of skyr in light desserts
The closer it gets to spring, the more often I choose lighter desserts. While I'm a big fan of the classic cheesecake, I now prefer its diet version. This dessert has been very well received by my family, and it's easy to make in a mini version as well.
Traditional desserts are delicious but are brimming with calories. The best examples are those popular during the carnival, such as donuts and fried pastries, which definitely don't favour a weight-loss diet. However, that doesn't mean we can't indulge in something sweet while managing our weight.
The dessert is low in calories
A dessert that certainly won't compromise the goals of a reduction diet is a skyr cake. This dish is often called a fit cheesecake and certainly deserves the name. You don't need fat or sugar to make it. It's based on the well-known Icelandic yogurt made from cow's milk, called skyr.
What are the benefits of skyr?
Skyr is rich in high-quality protein and is also low in calories. Due to these properties, it is often recommended as a quick snack, especially for those watching their figure. Based on it, you can also prepare desserts that taste similar to classic cheesecakes. One of them is skyr cake, which is incredibly simple to make. Basically, you just need to mix the ingredients. That's why it works when you suddenly crave something sweet. It will be ready in about half an hour, and you don't even need to turn on the oven, as you can also bake it in an air fryer.
