The current generation of the 3 Series is not heading into retirement. The manufacturer has decided on improvements that will allow it to survive for several years in the demanding market. What has changed?
At first glance, not much. You will recognize the "new" 3 primarily by the previously unavailable trim options (Arctic Race Blue, Vegas Red, Frozen Pure Grey, and Frozen Portimao Blue paints) or the two-tone wheels reserved for the more luxurious variants.
Inside, you can see a redesigned vent in the center console, surrounded by ambient lighting with nine colours. BMW has also introduced several decorative strips, including natural Ash Grey wood and aluminum.
However, the most important novelty is the updated multimedia system with BMW Operating System 8.5, which operates faster and more intuitively and has been enriched with new functions.
A lot's also happening under the hood, both in combustion and electrified versions. Customers can count on an additional power boost or a more excellent range in some versions.
For example, in the M340i edition, we now get 374 hp and 540 Nm of maximum torque. This result is due to the use of a mild hybrid system. The performance is impressive – it hits 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds, and the top speed is 250 km/h.
The Plug-in 330e has gained a larger battery. Thanks to the 19.5 kWh capacity, the electric range has increased to about 100 km. Improvements have also been made to the top edition M3 Competition xDrive, which now generates 530 hp instead of the previous 510.
We should get the full specifications of the refreshed 3 Series soon.
