Plum-choco: A delicious homemade alternative to Nutella

When the sweet aroma of stewed plums with a hint of chocolate fills the house, it's a sign that delicious preserves are being made in the pot. Plum-Choco is a treat loved by generations, as everyone, regardless of age, can be caught eating it straight from the jar with a spoon. It's the perfect remedy for autumn blues and long winter evenings. It's time to head to the market for plums and prepare delicious supplies.
Plum-choco - Plum preserves with chocolate
Plums, known for their health benefits, combined with the antioxidants found in dark chocolate create a unique duo that supports our immune system and improves our mood. And in a truly exceptionally tasty way - no Nutella even comes close to Plum-Choco.
Plum-Choco can be added to pancakes, fritters, or cakes, spread on biscuits, added to oatmeal, or simply eaten straight from the jar. It's better to prepare a larger supply for the winter because it disappears in the blink of an eye.
Ingredients:
- 3 kilograms European plums (pitted),
- 310 millilitres sugar,
- 1 vanilla bean,
- 100 grams cocoa powder,
- 100 grams dark or semi-sweet chocolate.
Preparation Method:
- Wash the plums thoroughly and remove the pits.
- Grind the plums using a meat grinder to make a smooth mixture. You can optionally blend them.
- Transfer the ground plums to a large pot and add the sugar. Add the seeds from the hollowed-out vanilla bean as well. This last addition can be omitted.
- Cook on low heat, stirring frequently, until the mixture thickens and reaches the desired consistency. If necessary, add more sugar.
- Add the sifted cocoa powder and the chocolate broken into pieces. Continue cooking, stirring until the chocolate melts.
- Transfer the hot Plum-Choco to sterilized jars and seal tightly with sterilized lids.
- Turn the jars upside down and let them cool.
Store the plum preserves with cocoa and chocolate in a dry and cool place. Enjoy!
