North Korean troops mistakenly fire on Russian allies, says POW
A Russian prisoner of war, currently held by Ukrainian forces, has revealed surprising details about the behaviour of North Korean soldiers. According to him, these soldiers accidentally opened fire on their allies, saying that "all Slavs look the same" to them. This statement comes from an interrogation shared on Telegram by Ukrainian journalist Denys Kazanskyj.

The account, reported by the Belsat.eu portal, features stories shared by a Russian captive held in Ukrainian custody.
This prisoner recounted an incident in the Kursk region, near Hlushkovo, where North Korean soldiers mistakenly fired on their Russian allies. His testimony was brought to light by a Ukrainian journalist.
There is no talking to them. They started shooting at us, maybe in panic, because they mistook us for the enemy. For them, all Slavs look the same, explained the Russian prisoner in the recording.
The Russian offers a direct critique of these allies, expressing his frustration over the potential scandal if a North Korean soldier were to be killed by friendly fire.
He notes that the Russian command ignores complaints and highlights the language barriers, which seemingly lead them to prefer sending Russian soldiers into assaults.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, citing military intelligence, reported yesterday regarding the arrival of 11,000 North Korean soldiers in the Kursk region of Russia. Ukrainian intelligence indicates these are primarily light infantry units intended for assault operations.
Ukrainian intelligence also asserts that at least 28 military transport aircraft from the Russian Aerospace Forces were employed to deploy these troops near the frontlines.
Meanwhile, the U.S. State Department estimates that Moscow has sent around 10,000 North Korean soldiers to the region.
