Access to guns in the US: An ongoing discussion
In the US, gun violence is a significant social issue. According to data collected by the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in 2021, there were approximately 48,000 gun-related deaths in the United States, with more than half being suicides.
The high level of gun violence is a cause for concern among both citizens and politicians.
Many advocates for stricter gun control regulations point to the correlation between easy access to guns and higher levels of violence. Studies show that in states with less restrictive laws, such as Texas, gun-related incidents, including mass shootings, occur more frequently.
