Heavy rains and severe floods in areas near the border with China have hit North Korea. Regime media report that the water has destroyed over 4,000 homes. Many people have died.
About 10 military helicopters and navy boats have been mobilized to evacuate the cities of Sinuiju and Uiju, where the flood isolated residents.
Kim Jong Un called a special meeting of the North Korean Politburo, ordering inspections of damaged strategic installations, homes, railways, and roads.
The flood particularly affected the city of Sinuiju in the northwest part of the country. The dictator summoned the military to fight the disaster and ordered the mobilization of local youth.
Kim Jong Un visited flooded areas where he oversees efforts to stabilize the situation. He criticized officials for losing vigilance and mobilized them to take action to prevent flood damage. Last year, when floods also occurred, he accused officials of ruining the national economy.
It's frightening to think what could have happened to the helmsman of the small boat piloted through the flooded areas by Kim Jong Un and his companions. The helmsman may have lost control and nearly ran into protruding branches.
Kim Jong Un ducked just in time to avoid the impact. Other crew members helped to calm the situation. Afterwards, the North Korean leader just fixed his fringe. The footage was posted on the portal X.
