The character of the Penguin is not unfamiliar to fans of DC Comics. On-screen, the antagonist has also made his mark several times; viewers most vividly remember Danny DeVito's portrayal in Tim Burton's 1992 "Batman Returns" with Michael Keaton in the lead role. Now, Colin Farrell has taken the reins.

Colin Farrell's transformation into the Penguin

Older, plump, with saggy skin on his chin, an aquiline nose, bags under his eyes, and above all, a scarred face, the star of Martin McDonagh's "The Banshees of Inisherin" is unrecognizable. The Irish heartthrob, who can be seen in the series Sugar on Apple TV+, is brilliantly "hidden" under masterful makeup.

What will Max's series "The Penguin" be about?

According to the Empire portal, the action of "The Penguin" will begin a few days after the end of "Batman" and will follow the moves made by Oswald Cobblepot after Carmine Falcone's departure (played by John Turturro from "Severance" on Apple TV+). His rival will be the gangster's daughter, who intends to follow in her father's footsteps and become the mafia boss. It is still unclear whether Robert Pattinson will appear in any episodes to appease viewers waiting for the next installment of "Batman."

When is the premiere of "The Penguin"?

It has been officially announced that viewers must wait for the first of the eight episodes of "The Penguin" until September 19. The date was announced during San Diego Comic-Con, and the announcement was met with enthusiastic applause from the audience.
