Netflix has gained a notorious reputation among series enthusiasts for axing beloved long-running shows, creating disappointment whether after many seasons or just one. However, the platform has also played the hero by reviving shows on the brink of cancellation by other networks. Which productions are we referring to here?

Both Netflix and other services have conditioned us to remain uncertain about the future of our favorite characters and the series they inhabit. Sometimes, despite a show being well-received by audiences, it gets the axe. But then, there are instances where Netflix steps in to save series from the chopping block. A prime example of this is the popular "Lucifer", which was set to end after its third season only to be rescued by Netflix, leading to a total of six seasons.

A series that recently made headlines originally debuted in 2018 and was comprised of three seasons. We're talking about "Manifest". The show first aired in 2018 and was subsequently canceled, only to find a new lease on life.

The first season of "Manifest" premiered on NBC six years ago, captivating viewers with the story of passengers aboard a mysteriously disappearing plane. In July 2021, it seemed all was lost with the confirmation of no further episodes. However, just a month later, Netflix acquired the rights to the series, reigniting hope among fans for its continuation.

In 2022, the first segment of the fourth season of "Manifest", or "Turbulence", arrived on Netflix. It was soon disclosed that within mere the first three days of its release, the latest season had amassed over 57 million viewing hours.

"Manifest" revived by Netflix: A bittersweet conclusion

The following year saw the release of the fourth season's second part. Despite the show's popularity and excellent online ratings, including an 88 percent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes (which later fell to 72 percent), it was announced to be the series' final chapter, leaving fans disheartened.

In 2022, "Manifest" wasn't just a hit internationally but also in Poland, where it was selected by 1.79 million Netflix users, outpacing even the likes of "Peaky Blinders", which drew 1.75 million viewers.
