Do you feel like something is moving behind the wall? Or perhaps you hear slight rustling at night? These could be mice. These clever rodents can create a cozy nest in many unsuspecting places such as barns, basements, or garages. Worse yet, they also find their way into our homes. Not only are they bothersome, but they can also carry diseases. Unsurprisingly, when we notice their presence, we want to get rid of them as quickly as possible.

How to recognize the presence of mice in the house?

Identifying the presence of mice in the house can be crucial for taking effective action. The first sign to pay attention to is noise. Rustling sounds coming from behind the walls or attic may indicate their presence.

Another sure sign of mice is droppings. Unpleasant odours and remnants of excrement are definite signs of unwanted tenants. Unpleasant surprises from pests can most often be found near baseboards, behind and under furniture, and in room corners.

Mice often leave behind food fragments - small crumbs or gnawed food packaging is a warning signal. Pay attention to the kitchen and pantry; if something has been damaged in a characteristic way, it's a sign that rodents have entered the house.

Holes in walls or floors can also indicate that mice have found a way into your home. They often use existing gaps as an entrance to warm places. If you notice any of the above examples, act quickly.

Home remedies to get rid of mice from the house

The presence of mice is a problem that affects many households. When looking for effective solutions, it's worth turning to home remedies. The first step is to ensure that food in our home is tightly stored. The smell of food attracts these small pests, so seal leftovers in airtight containers.

To get rid of rodents from the house, you can use essential oils such as peppermint, lavender, or anise. Simply place a cotton ball with a few drops of the product in strategic places (behind furniture, by stairs, in cracks, near doorframes). Their intense smell will undoubtedly deter them.

Cinnamon, pepper (black or cayenne), and garlic - these aromatic spices will also make mice not want to enter the room. Sprinkling them in room corners and by doors will effectively drive them away. Mice dislike the smell of spicy spices, allowing you to sleep peacefully.

You can also use vinegar. Rodents have an extremely acute sense of smell. The sharp and sour smell of this product irritates them. Moreover, vinegar may negatively affect mice's ability to detect pheromones, which are crucial in communication among specific pests. Therefore, areas saturated with the smell of vinegar will become less attractive to them.

Each of these methods has its advantages. You can use each trick individually or combine them for a better effect.
