47-year-old Tom Brady, considered by many to be one of the best players in American football history, has acquired a five percent stake in the Raiders.
His involvement with the club has been under discussion for a year and a half. The main focus of the talks was to determine the final percentage of his share. Another challenging issue was the potential conflict of interest, given Brady's role as an NFL commentator for Fox Sports.
Given this situation, the NFL management has restricted Brady's media activities. As a co-owner of the club, he must now adhere to the principle of "being barred from publicly criticizing referees or opposing teams." This aims to maintain neutrality when commenting on games involving his team.
Tom Brady is the most decorated player in NFL history. He is the only one to have won seven Super Bowl titles—six with the New England Patriots (from 2000 to 2019) and one with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2021. His sports achievements are impressive: he was named the most valuable player of the league finals (MVP Final) five times and received the regular-season MVP award three times.
In honour of his career, a statue of the legend is set to be erected near the New England Patriots stadium in 2024, and his number 12 was retired. The club's owner, Robert Kraft, made this decision. Brady ended his career on February 1, 2023.
The Las Vegas Raiders were based in the California cities of Oakland and Los Angeles before moving to Las Vegas in 2020. The team now boasts a football legend as a minor shareholder, which will likely have resonating effects in the sports community for quite some time.
He is a legend of American sports. He supports other clubs
It is worth mentioning that this is not Brady’s only involvement in the sports world. He also holds shares in other clubs: England's Birmingham City, which plays in the Championship, and the WNBA team - the Las Vegas Aces.
