Moscow mayor reports largest drone attack attempt overnight

Authorities in Moscow reported early Wednesday morning that around ten Ukrainian drones were detected over the city at night. The mayor of the Russian capital, Sergey Sobyanin, stated on social media that it was "one of the largest attempts to attack Moscow with drones of all time."

Sobyanin reported on the foreign drones over the city on the Telegram service.

"Overnight, the air defence of the Moscow region shot down ten Ukrainian drones attempting to attack the city," he wrote. The mayor assured that the drones did not cause any serious damage in Moscow. According to him, no residents were hurt either.

Drone debris reportedly fell on the outskirts of Moscow in the city of Podolsk.

"This is one of the largest attempts to attack Moscow using drones ever," Sobyanin emphasized.

Early in the morning, recordings of bright spots appearing in the night sky surfaced on social media. According to reports, these were drones being shot down over Moscow by Russian air defence.

The Ukrainian side has not yet commented on the reports of an attack on the Russian capital.
