The alarming trial unfolded in Manchester, UK, where teacher Rebecca Joynes faced accusations of seducing her underage students. She regularly engaged in sexual activities with two 15-year-old students, sent them erotic pictures, and persuaded them to have sex. One of these encounters led to her pregnancy and the birth of a child.
To protect the victims, the students’ identities were withheld during the trial, referred to only as “Boy A” and “Boy B.” “Boy B” disclosed in a police interview that he engaged in sexual activities with Rebecca Joynes under the belief that she could not become pregnant, only to be shocked when he discovered she had lied.

Teachers are entrusted with the safety and well-being of children, often spending extended periods with them, including during school trips. While most teachers take their responsibilities seriously, some exploit their position and trust for personal gain.
The Crown Court in Manchester, handling Rebecca Joynes’ case, found that she had persuaded minors into sexual relations. Initially, she started a relationship with “Boy A.” The situation came to light when he received erotic pictures from the 30-year-old on his mobile phone and shared them with a friend. Following her arrest, the student provided a statement, and Joynes was released on bail pending trial.
The trial revealed that while out on bail, Rebecca Joynes started a relationship with a 16-year-old student, referred to as “Boy B.” The student testified that he lost his virginity to her, and they had unprotected sex about 30 times because Joynes convinced him she could not get pregnant. Contrary to her claims, she did become pregnant. In court, “Boy B” stated that Joynes mentally abused him and made him feel responsible for her pregnancy. Joynes has not admitted any guilt.
