This vegetable has extraordinary nutritional properties, rich in vitamins A, C, and K, fibre, and minerals. Importantly, kale retains its nutritional value even during heat treatment, making it perfect for making chips.
Crunchy kale chips - how to make them?
Making kale chips is extremely simple and quick. All you need are a few ingredients and patience to create a healthy and delicious snack you'll love.
Ingredients:
- 300-400 grams of fresh kale,
- 6 tablespoons of vegetable oil (e.g., canola, sunflower),
- ½ teaspoon of salt,
- optional: sweet, smoked, or hot paprika powder.
Preparation:
- Thoroughly wash the kale and dry it with paper towels. Remove thick stems and tear the leaves into smaller pieces about 2-3 centimetres long.
- In a large bowl, mix the kale leaves with oil, salt, and chosen spices.
- Spread the kale leaves in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake in an oven preheated to 150°C for 3-5 minutes until the chips become crispy but not burnt.
- Take the ready chips out of the oven and let them cool.
Additional tips:
- Before baking, you can drizzle the kale with lemon juice to add extra flavour.
- You can add other spices, such as granulated garlic, oregano, chilli powder, etc.
- You can store ready kale chips in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
